Christmas in Little Washington is proud to have earned the Virginia Green Festival Certification. As a key part of our mission, we want to have a positive impact on our natural environment.

Our eco-initiatives include elimination of single use plastic (i.e. water bottles, plastic bags, etc… 91% of “recycled” plastic DOES NOT get recycled). Water refill stations will be available throughout the festival along with reusable/recyclable aluminum cups.

Food and beverage vendors will utilize compostable and recyclable food service wares, source local ingredients, offer vegan/vegetarian/GF options, minimize processed food. Compost food scraps will be donated to local pig/chicken farms and more.

Green Team volunteers will be positioned in our eco rubbish stations ensuring all waste is recycled and composted properly. At the completion of the event recycling, compost and landfill is weighed for future comparison metrics and taken to the Flatwood recycling center in Rappahannock County.
